Remembering 3-11 Five Years On

3-11 Fukushima Tsunami Anniversary in Minamisanriku town, Miyagi prefecture, Japan

Today, March 11th, marks the triple tragedy of the disaster in Japan in 2011. An earthquake of the magnitude of 9.0 on the Richter scale hit Fukushima in North East Japan, followed by a Tsunami and a meltdown at the Daiichi nuclear power plant, leaving 18000 people dead or missing.

The earthquake triggered the powerful Tsuami waves which reached a height of up to 40.5 meters (133 ft) in Miyako, Iwate. In the Sendai area, the waves traveled up to 10 km inland! OMG! It was a scary time even watching the video of the event that took place five years ago. There are untold miseries and sufferings caused by this triple tragedy that many are still struggling to deal with today.

We remember and pray for the victims of our brothers and sisters in Fukushima who have either perished or been injured and suffered from the disaster.
